A visit at our office can take up to 2-3 hours to complete depending on what’s going on. Please bring everything you need to stay happy. Toys, snacks, juice, fun activities – can all make the visit go better!

If you or your child wear glasses please bring them.

If this is your first visit or yearly check-up, the eyes will be dilated (the pupil or dark spot in the colored part of the eye is made larger with eye drops). Please bring sunglasses for after the exam.
-
Check in at the front desk with your cards and patient forms. Then have a seat in the waiting area. Someone will call you back shortly to start the visit.
During your visit...

The eye drops (if needed) that make the pupil larger can take up to 40 minutes to work. This is where fun activities can be helpful to pass the time.
-
We try our best to work with every child’s growth and development level. If there are special tips to help your child have a successful visit, please let us know.
-
The doctor will let you know if any extra tests are recommended.
After your visit...
-
The eyes can be sensitive to bright lights and sunshine when the pupils are dilated. This is where sunglasses come in handy.
-
The pupils can sometimes stay large after the eye drops for up to 48 hours, so don’t worry if the eyes still look “big” later on the day of the appointment or even the next day.
-
On your way out, don’t forget to schedule your next appointment.
